The pupils involved in the Public Speaking and Debating Club are hard at work preparing for the Portsmouth Big Debate in June. Fifteen lucky students will be chosen to represent Springfield at the competition, debating about current affairs against other schools across Portsmouth. I hope to continue this club in future years, as the feedback from pupils has been very positive! The club is currently meeting on a weekly basis after school. Students are learning the skills required to debate successfully thanks to the support of Unloc. This week students debated whether cloning animals should remain legal in the UK.
