GCSE Results 2024

Congratulations to our Year 11 students for their fantastic achievements in 2023/24!  This year group joined the school in the September of 2019/20, the first academic year affected by the disruption of the COVID19 pandemic. The 2-year transition to pre-pandemic GCSE grading is now complete, and so for this Year 11 cohort ‘normal’ grading arrangements have been in place. Our students have met these challenges ‘full on’, and the qualifications they have gained provide trustworthy evidence of their achievements at school of which they should all be very proud.

The school’s provisional results indicate a pleasing performance by the year group as a whole – up on last year - and some excellent individual achievements.  Notably, 73% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in an English GCSE and 66% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in the mathematics GCSE (grade 4 is the standard pass, approximately equivalent to the former grade C, and is the minimum entry requirement for the majority of A Level/Level 3 courses). 60% of the students achieved five or more GCSE passes including English and mathematics; and over a third of students achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or above – approximately equivalent to the former grade B) in English and mathematics.  A particular ‘shout out’ to the Design and Technology and Religious Studies students for their excellent outcomes this year, with over 17% and 25% of each subject’s students respectively achieving a grade 8 or 9.  Overall, 119 of the highest grades (8/9) were achieved.
