Dear Parents/Carers.  Thank you for your support with respect to managing the school closure, the remote (Google Classrooms) learning support for pupils and also the on site provision for vulnerable children and those whose parents are emergency/key workers.

The school had very little time to set these provisions up, in addition to meeting the Government's requirement to continue with a free school meals service.  I'm very grateful to the staff who have worked tirelessly to make this happen for today.

(With respect to the free school meals service we are working with other partners to see how this can be improved for families.  The Government has talked of a voucher system, for example, but has yet to send precise details of this to schools.  Similarly, the Council is considering whether weekly meal parcels could be set up.  When we have more information, we will inform parents/carers.)

It feels very strange for the school community to be managing much of its work remotely and I know that this will be a challenge for all of us.  However, we will continue to do our best to support the pupils.  We will be asking parents whose children attend the on-site provision whether this is required over Easter over the next day or two.

Parents/Carers of Year 11 pupils have a number of questions regarding the Government's announcement that GCSEs will not take place as usual this year.  There is some more information emerging, but perhaps more questions than answers at this stage.  Further information has been published at:

I would remind families that we have safeguarding links and information on the school website.  We plan to have one member of our Pastoral Manager Team on site each day who can be available to offer advice should families need this.

Please continue to follow the school's website for updates and the Government's advice:

Kind regards
