Fort Nelson have asked that we share the following information with our school community:

"At Fort Nelson, we currently have a tribute to the 258 military and civilian lives lost during the Falklands conflict. Life-size silhouetted figures represent those who did not return from the Falklands. This exhibition has been touring the country, but this is the first time it has been seen in the South of England.

The art installation is called Standing with Giants – it’s free admission and runs until 9 July. Fort Nelson is open Tuesday to Sunday 10am – 5pm - daily during half term. Book your free tickets in advance at www.royalarmouries.org to guarantee your visit, as the site has capacity limits.

It would be great if Portsmouth families were able to visit and learn about a part of their local history, with so many going to the war from our city.

Fort Nelson is free to enter and will be open every day during half term. We also have a free ‘Letters Home’ trail for families to enjoy, running alongside the art installation.

Two ‘Meet the Veterans’ events are also taking place on Sunday 28 May and Sunday 25 June - 10.30 – 12.30pm."
